Whenever there is a construction project, you will definitely find a scaffolding. It is a temporary platform used for elevating, supporting, and providing materials during the process of construction, whether it is for cleaning or repairing the structure. This has to be installed before the construction or maintenance work is commenced. It doesn’t matter how big or small the business is, the scaffolding will always be required.
Types of Scaffolding
There are various types of scaffolding you can choose from, depending on the type of construction you have. These include the following:
Birdscage Scaffolding
This is also known as the independent scaffolding. It is primarily used for internal tasks and it has a simple cage which is supported by four verticals which allow the workers to work. The birdscage is easy to move from one location to another. It can also be used both indoors and outdoors.
Ladder or Trestle Scaffolding
This type of scaffolding is used for those areas that are hard to reach. It is best used for light construction work. This is often portable. This is often made up of two ladders with their top ends joined by planks which allow workers to stand and work on the platform.
Suspended Scaffolding
This is the type of scaffolding that is used when working on tall commercial buildings and other high areas. This follows the principle that sometimes it is more convenient and more economical to suspend the platform than to have it supported from the ground, most especially when the height is beyond 30 meters. There are three types of suspended scaffoldings: pulled by pulleys, fixed, and those that are operated by winches.
Kwikstage Scaffolding
In Australia, constructions use a heavy duty modular scaffolding system called Kwikstage scaffolding. Reputable companies like All Trade Scaffolding offer this. It is a highly efficient access method to apply on hard-to-reach areas and heights, whether it is a residential, commercial, or industrial projects. It is considered reliable in Australia due to its strength, flexibility of use, and easy installation. It is also known to save time allotted for erection and dismantling and labor costs.
Cantilever or Needle Scaffolding
This is intended for the work done on the upper area of a tall residential building project. This scaffolding system eliminates the scaffolding at the lower levels which allow space for vehicles to pass, etc. It is almost similar to the double scaffolding; the only difference is that it is supported below by a cantilever prop.
Double Scaffolding
This is the type of scaffolding by masons for plastering purposes. It is composed of pairs of inner and outer verticals. The putlogs are supported by a system of verticals and longitudinals. It may also be tied to the building at intervals when the scaffolding is used for a multistory project.
