A sudden fire totally engulfed the trawler Paw Prints at the dock on Saturday, June 26, 2004. Dick from
Corazón was the big hero jumping into the water and cutting various
boat lines that could not be reached from the burning docks so that
other boats could be pulled away from the fire. The photo above shows
Dick in the water preparing to cut away Inspiration. It was good that
there was a northerly at the time because when she burned her dock
lines, if we would have had southerlies, she would have come right
across to Marina de La Paz. Of course Mary was right there and would
have no doubt held it off by hand.
Dick from
Corazón, below, got a line around the bow pulpit and with help
from Carlos Solis from Water Works was able to
pull it over to El Magote where she burned to the waterline. Man, once that
fiberglass gets going there is no stopping it. Tom
